We’re excited to announce the release and deployment of the Granularity REST API. This is an Application Programming Interface (API) which allows our customers, partners and vendors to integrate Granularity market data and predictions into their own tools.

This is a huge step forward for our team at Granularity as we seek to further enable retailers, manufacturers, supply chain technology providers, enterprise resource planning systems, and the entire modern logistics and planning stack with better data and more accurate predictions about the market.

Granularity regularly collects, aggregates, and analyzes market data to provide retailers with curated data on how categories and products are performing in consumer data. For example, how many search engine searches were there for knit turtlenecks in December of 2020 (the answer, over 2.2 million) or how many Tiktok posts for shackets there were in August 2022 (23 that trended).

This data is made available at both the category and product level for retail inventory that Granularity tracks in collaboration with our customers. And it is available through data.granularity.ca as a JSON data entry.

Authenticated users or applications can send a request to our servers made public at data.granularity.ca to query the data and access the demand data for a category or product. This is accomplished through an HTTPS request where the details of the requested is provided in a JSON format. You can read more about what a REST API is and how it works at this blog post.

Our team is hard at work developing documentation for our REST API users and customers to be able to better access market demand data at their own applications. This documentation will outline getting started, the available API end points, and how to receive your authorization token.

We’re also working with potential integration partners to feed this data directly into existing supply chain logistics technology providers and enterprise resource planning systems.
